Description

This course will examine some of the major British literary texts of the Romantic and Victorian periods. We will examine how literary form helped to produce the period’s thinking on such topics as empire, capital, gender, sexuality, health, class, technology, and evolution. We will read a selection of secondary articles drawn from contemporary scholarship in order to develop our thinking about the period.
