Description

The British Romantic period was an extremely intense and creative time. Jane Austen invented the modern novel. William Wordsworth invented modern poetry. Visionaries such as William Blake and Percy Shelley pushed politics, philosophy and theology to new limits.

This all took place amidst a fervid swirl of emerging industrial capitalism and the American and French Revolutions. Modern life was born, including modern consumerism.

We will investigate the art, music and of course the literature of this white hot period of creativity and revolution.
