My current project is an analysis of the novel (historically and in the contemporary moment) as an active address to a readership towards the ends of creating alternative communities. The analysis focuses on formal characteristics of the genre, as well as the narratological engagement of the readership. My specific interest is in the anti-normative, centrifugal movements, but attends also the necessity of centripetal forces as the two form a locked pair.
