Biography:

I grew up in Lead, South Dakota.  It's a small mining town 3 miles from historic Deadwood.

My dissertation project is a recuperation of the term Messthetics (a term that currently describes a subset of punk rock records) for broader use.  I argue that "Messthetics" is a more appropriate and descriptive label to apply to a collection of formal techniques most thoroughly deployed and developed during the late twentieth century.  I examine works by authors such as Antonin Artaud, Paul Celan, B.S. Johnson, Lyn Hejinian, and Joe Wenderoth.
