English Club History
In the very recent past, UC Davis did not have an active English Club until a year ago. The past is behind us and now we are looking towards the future and another active year. Last year participants enjoyed activities such as Storytellers, Plays, Pizza Party, and much more.
English Club Statement
The English Club was established to provide an environment for students with common interests in Literature, Theatre, Poetry, Creative Writing and other related English areas. We want to provide students with the opportunity to get involved with the community by participating and promoting on and off campus literary events. The English Club promotes fellowship among students of the English majors and minors by establishing a social basis for study groups and a social network overall.
Community Involvement Opportunity
The English Club at UC Davis has been a participant in Storytellers. This is an event started by the English Club that provides a chance for members to read to children at a local bookstore. Storytellers has been very successful in the past and I hope to continue the successful readings in the upcoming year. The reading will be held every other Sunday during the fall unless we have enough participants to have it every Sunday. The reading consists of two stories and a craft. You can choose how you would like to participate and new ideas are welcome. It will be a fun experiences for you, other club members, parents, and of course the children.
The Club has also sent two members to a local Junior High for a Poetry Workshop. If you are interested in having the English Club participate in an event please feel free to send an e-mail.
Benefits
- Meet new people who share common interests.
- Use these new friendships to go to plays, poetry readings, and other activities.
- You will be able to say you were an active member in a club while at UC Davis.
- Come and experience all of the other benefits for yourself.
We encourage you to come and meet fellow students who share many of the same interests. Come and put a name to the face of the other student who looks familiar because he or she has many of the same classes as you. The club is open to new ideas and will benefit from all participants. This is a great way to meet other English majors and to get involved. On behalf of the current members, we hope to see you at a meeting. It is never too late to get involved.
