British Romantic Literature

Description
We will study selected poems and novels from the period 1780-1830. Most of our time will be spent with the poetry (which will be available in a course reader); authors will include Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley, Byron, among others. We will also read two novels, 'Frankenstein' and 'Northanger Abbey'.
Computers will not be permitted in the classroom except in cases of special needs.
Grading
Midterm (15%) and Final (25%) exams; midterm (15%) and final (25%) papers; quizzes and participation (20%).
