British Romantic Literature

Description
This course will study some of the best-known British writers of the period c. 1780-1830: Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley, Keats, Scott, Austen, Wollstonecraft. We will read two novels, a good deal of poetry, and some (not too much) political writing reflecting on the consequences of the French Revolution.
Except for special needs cases, this will be a computer-free classroom using print texts.
Grading
Midterm (15%)and final (25%) exams; two papers (15% and 25%); quizzes (20%).
