Description
In this class we’ll study highlights of modern and contemporary drama with an emphasis on four major figures: Shaw, Brecht, Artaud and Kushner. In addition to the plays, we’ll also read some theoretical texts by Brecht and Artaud, and Sarah Kane’s Blasted as a possible example of the latter’s “Theater of Cruelty.”
Grading
Evaluation will be based on midterm, final and a term paper.
