Creative Writing: Advanced Fiction

Description
This is an advanced undergraduate fiction workshop, concentrating on the analysis both of assigned texts, and of four, occasionally more, student manuscripts per week. Each student will be responsible for submitting, for class discussion, at least two pieces of new fiction, to a maximum length of 10 pages each, or, with permission, one or more pieces of new fiction and one major rewrite. Exercises will be assigned both for spontaneous writing in class, and for submission the following week.
Grading
Grading will be based as follows: one third on the quality of class participation; one third on assigned reading and exercises; one third on written manuscripts.
