Description
The short story is one of the most difficult literary forms to write: it must condense all of the elements of great fiction into a few, perfectly sculpted pages. There’s also something distinctly modern about the form, which didn’t emerge as a literary genre until the turn of the nineteenth century. In this course, we’ll study the peculiarities of the short story form by reading excellent stories from a range of writers across the world. We will also work to refine your awareness of the intricate interdependencies of literary form and content—and we will strive to write well about all of these topics.
