Alumni

Our final class of M.A. writers will graduate in the spring of 2020. Alumni of our M.A. program have won countless prizes and fellowships, including the Michener, the Stegner, the Flannery O’Connor Prize, the NEA in Literature, the Hodder, the O’Henry Prize, the Pen/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize. They publish in the finest presses, high profile presses and cutting-edge literary presses.

We’re also proud of the wide range of ways our students have applied what they learned here to their lives. Some have gone on to PhD programs and tenure track professorships. One recent graduate has created a Poetry Therapy program for the Sacramento Poetry Center which focuses on children and teens receiving mental health services, another is doing humanitarian work in Benin, another is the Director of Residences and Services at Wind Youth Services, another is a senior researcher at the Indian School of Business, and several others have started their own editing/consulting businesses.
