European Riot

Professor Joshua Clover has been on the road this summer giving talks inspired by his latest book, Riot Strike Riot, which was published by Verso in May. Here he is speaking at Stockholm’s Cyclopen cultural center.

Clover reports that “it is odd to discuss riots in states with traditional social democracies” like Sweden, where there is a “powerfully strong sense that the customary relation with the state is now being voided.” Certainly, the book appears to be garnering diverse interest: one of Sweden’s conservative daily newspapers gave it a warm review and Clover reports that a founder of BitTorrent site The Pirate Bay has expressed interest in translating the book.
