Description

This course will cover English language literature by women from Sarah Orne Jewett and Virginia Woolf to Adrienne Rich and Toni Morrison. In addition to reading a diverse range of imaginative literature, the class will investigate various feminist critical approaches to issues relating to the question of female authorship, including the impact of gender identity on literary production, the development of an alternative canon of women’s literature, and the representations of distinctively female developmental, cultural, and political experience.
