Introduction to Literary Theory

Class Information

Instructor: Watkins, Evan
Time: MWF 10:00-10:50
Location: 217 Olson

Description

In this course we will work with some central concepts and influential texts in the history of literary criticism from Plato and Aristotle up through the 19th century. I can't promise you easy reading, but I think you'll end up liking the course and the readings more than what your likely dread of the Theory Requirement tells you.

Grading

Primary requirements for the course are two short (3-5) pg papers and a take home essay final. I'll have you doing rough drafts and final versions for both the short papers.
