World Tarot Day is the beginning of a new annual event at UC Davis: a day-long celebration of the many cultures of the Tarot for the community at large. It is in part a forum for the presentation of academic scholarship and creative work related to the Tarot produced by students at the university (including undergraduates, MFA students, MA students, and PhD. students). But it aspires to be inclusive of the wider public in general and to build a bridge between the world of Tarot and UC Davis.
To that end, we are bringing two keynote speakers who are especially prominent within Tarot culture: Marcella Kroll (creatrix of the brand new Initiates Oracle and author of Healing the Liminal: Lessons and Parables for Finding Your Way among other works) and Benebell Wen (creatrix of the Spirit Keeper’s Tarot and author of Holistic Tarot: An Integrative Approach to Using Tarot for Personal Growth among other works).
World Tarot Day will take place on Friday, May 22 from 10 am to 4 pm in 102 Wellman Hall at UC Davis
Events will take place throughout the day, and the event will culminate in a roundtable conversation between the guest speakers and Professor Gregory Dobbins of UC Davis on the theme of “Neurodiversity and the Tarot.”
