Description
English 10C, the third of three courses in the required Literatures in English sequence, is designed to prepare you for the advanced study of literature in upper-division courses. In this course, we will study Anglophone literature written after 1900. Through these texts, we will follow the major literary and historical transitions across anglophone literature. We will read poetry, fiction, and drama with an eye toward developing your close-reading skills. We will also carefully explore the historical and political contexts in which these texts appeared. In particular, this course will focus on literature’s relationships to other media technologies. We will pay special attention to how literary works represent identity and belonging, national and otherwise.
