Hello! My name is Francisco Baeza (he/him). I am a second generation chicano from the Imperial Valley / Inland Empire. I think about climate fictions in relation to issues of race, class, and the environment. I originally started my educational journey at a junior college in San Bernardino and then transferred to UC Riverside to complete my BA in English. I then went to CSU San Bernardino for my MA in English & Writing Studies before making the move here to pursue a Ph.D. I've taught at the university level since 2021, but I was working in K-12 education before and during that time so I enjoy being in the classroom. I am mostly interested in how climate fictions (typically science fiction, but can be a multitude of other genres) can help people imagine new worlds. I'm particularly interested in how to engage with publics outside of the university to raise awareness and engagement with environmental issues.
