Professor Levin joined the UC Davis faculty as Assistant Professor in 1974. Before coming to UCD, he taught at Louisiana State University, New Orleans (now the University of New Orleans). His areas of research and teaching include Renaissance literature and drama. He has published Love and Society in Shakespearean Comedy and articles on the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Shakespeare's Secret Schemers: The Study of An Early Modern Device was published by the University of Delaware Press in 2001. He is an associate editor of The Upstart Crow.
