Description
This course is intended for 2019-2020 instructors of English 3 and 3A. We will emphasize hands-on pedagogical practice as we consider the formal vocabulary and methods of close reading appropriate for teaching poetry, fiction, and drama. We will approach various strategies for explicating, discussing, and writing cogent arguments about literary texts in a class of diverse students. In addition to participating in class discussions and exercises, students will visit and evaluate one of the ENL 3 sections being taught during the term and will generate a course syllabus for both ENL 3 and ENL 3A.
